Desh Devo Bhava” programme organised by SOL at DU

In his address, Sri Sri Vishwaprasanna Tirtha Swamiji stated that the attitude we adopt in life serves as a worship of God. Swamiji stated that God does not reside only in temples ; He resides in everyone’s heart. The first and foremost goal of our attitude should be to worship God ; earning money can be secondary. In this way, we can live a life that reflects the well-being of the “Desh Dev.” On this occasion, he also administered a pledge to everyone : “I will always respect my parents , teachers , and elders. I will sit and eat with my family at least once a week. I will adhere to the high values ​​​​instilled in us by the Indian way of life , and I am free from any bad habits. As a citizen of India , I will equally uphold the fundamental rights and duties granted by the Constitution. I will always respect the country. As a citizen, I will continuously strive to make India a great nation in the world. ”

Presiding over the program, DU Vice Chancellor Prof. Yogesh Singh said that the Upanishads gave us the message of “Matri Devo Bhava, Pitri Devo Bhava , Acharya Devo Bhava, and Atithi Devo Bhava,” but “Desh Devo Bhava” was left out. Perhaps its need was not felt at the time. The Vice Chancellor noted that India was enslaved for 800 years. Perhaps the lack of this single idea has cost it for centuries. He said that “Desh Devo Bhava” means building national character. This is sorely lacking in India and Indian society. Work on this is essential, and this task falls to universities , professors, and educational institutions. The Vice Chancellor emphasized that the spirit of “Desh Devo Bhava” is essential. It is our duty to love our country and advance it. He added that achieving the goal of a developed India requires all of us to make efforts, and this spirit is essential at the core of that effort.In his address, Lok Sabha MP Tejasvi Surya stated that the spirit of “Desh Devo Bhava” (Desh is God) is crucial for a developed India. Addressing the students present, he said that perhaps his and their generations will be the first to enjoy the fruits of a developed India. To fulfill the pledge of a developed India, he urged the students to dream big; India is not a country of small dreams. Cultural presentations also followed at the end of the program.

In her welcome address at the beginning of the program, COL Director Prof. Payal Mago stated that this event is being organized to discuss our heritage, culture , the people of India, and the values ​​of a strong India. She added that SOL also organized a poster-making competition on the theme “Desh Devo Bhava,” in which 2,000 students participated. Fifty-two of these students received cash prizes of ₹ 21,000 , ₹11,000 , and ₹5,000, respectively. Dean of Colleges Prof. Balram Pani, Director of the South Campus Prof. Rajni Abbi , COL Director Prof. Payal Mago , Dr. Abhishek Tandon, and Prof. Ajay Jaiswal, along with numerous DU and SOL officials and approximately 5,000 SOL students were present on the occasion.
